By the way - with this strange issue, what pops up is something that
looks like its trying to install Visual FoxPro (as shown in the
original Image links). But, upon doing some Google searching - I
found the file being referenced (VS_SETUP.msi) - it seems to be a
Visual Studio install file.
I realize this is a very late response, but I would just like to
mention that I recently have seen this very thing in two completely
different contexts on my home computer:
Win 7 SP1 Ultimate 32-bit
1. Whenever I run an audio-editing program called MP3Gain, I get the
exact same "Installing VFP" windows. I have to click the "CANCEL"
button on them four or five times to make them go away, and then the
program will run. If I don't click "CANCEL", I get "Internal Error
[some number]", and MP3Gain does not run. This occurs both under a
restricted local user account, and a Domain Administrator account, so
it's not permissions-related.
2. In the VFP 9 SP1 IDE, again on my home computer, I recently ran
the Code References Tool for the the first time. I got the VFP
Install window when I tried to run it, and after clicking all the
cancels, I was able to start a search. As soon as I started the
search, the VFP Install windows appeared again. After canceling them
all again, the search completed normally. As in the first scenario,
if I don't keep hitting cancel, I get "Internal Error [some number]"
and Code References doesn't do what I asked it to do. Also as in the
first scenario, it doesn't matter what permissions I run VFP under.
And everything else in the VFP IDE runs fine.
I suspect this is some form of MS Windows Installer corruption, since
this is occuring in two completely unrelated programs. And I am
afraid to mess with anything because I don't want to end up having to
completely uninstall VFP (and that would mean combing the Registry
for leftover bits) and reinstall it, and MP3Gain, and perhaps
downloading and installing a new copy of Windows Installer, after all
of which I may still end up having to delete and re-create my profiles.
But just to let you know. Something systemic is definitely messed up here.
