Landfilling laptops isn't great. But no, the real environmental disaster is when all your circuit boards end up in an open oil drum of extremely powerful acid sitting out on a village street on the peninsula north of Hong Kong in a sloppy, remarkably toxic effort to salvage gold from the components.
I don't know what the last version of fox with a paper manua was. I remember 2.6 had quite a multi pound monster, in three or four books, if memory serves. Having a wood stove, I've actually come to appreciate the steady supply of junk mail and junk paper. It helps me heat my water. Solar in summer and wood in our drippy coastal Oregon winter. Matt, one could take the manual one step further. Why not print the url to the manual on the bike's seat? In a finite universe, nothing is without cost - electronic distribution costs some greenhouse gas production. I generally prefer it, but not in a particularly knowledgeable way. Come to think of it, I should try to quantify the carbon cost of my silly drivel in this message, it could be quite substantial. Actually, I will, if you will help me, Anyone who read this far and wants to, write me off list with whether you read this on a laptop, desktop with crt/s or desktop with flat panel display/s and whether the system would be on or off normally. If you happen to know the sources of your electricity - gas, coal, nuclear, hydro, solar and/or wind, include that. Think I could actually make a potentially surprising article out of this silly idea. Sorry if I've straddled NF way over into OT.
