In that case, we should be able to make as many copies of MS software as we 
want for free. Because, as long as I can remember, I have gotten NO SERVICE 
from MS at all. Indeed, I had to fix things myself. And in recent years MS 
has even made people pay (or at least gives them no money) to debug MS's 
software.

Maybe you were agreeing with me (or others). If MS would sell the OS for 
'x' dollars, and then offer to sell a 'service' contract for 'x' dollars 
per year, that would be fine by me. Of course, anyone but the richest 
corporations would probably be pretty dumb to buy that service contract 
(given MS's past performance in the support arena).
