Paul, In the router, set up the laptop with a fixed Ip Address and then make that IP Address a DMZ so that ALL ports are allowed access directly to the Laptop and just see if that sorts out the problem. If that works OK, then at least you will know then that the Laptop is set up correctly and the problem is in the Router blocking certain ports.
