Considering that they wrote explicitly in their PNAC documents of
their plans to invade Iraq as the first part of a "generational war",
and that they felt that a traumatic event such as what happened at
Pearl Harbor in 1941 would be needed to convince Americans to accept
such a protracted, multi-decade war, it isn't very difficult to see
why they would cherry-pick their intelligence. 9/11 was such a once-
in-a-lifetime opportunity; exactly the sort of event they were hoping
for.
