Sorry about the long excepts Ed, but the article was really long and kind of scattered. I double posted the long excepts, because they never showed up until way later. I assumed they had been rejected because of their length, so I edit one as new, after trimming it, then submitted it again, and it showed up almost immediately. Subsequently the other post finally showed up. I'll try to keep my excepts down to reasonable lengths.
