Here's his example: http://www.econym.demon.co.uk/googlemaps/examples/example4.xml That's different output than your script gives... > I'm not going to go tit for tat with you, but I've been in this business > quite a long time and one thing that I've learned is that there are a lot of > different ways to accomplish the same thing. Did I say otherwise? The exact words I said was "The more accepted way is a DOM-based XML parser, such as MSXML", clearly showing that there are other ways to do this. The primary thing I'm pointing out, is your code does not create attributes on the <marker/> elements, which based on the specs I see on google maps and even on the site you linked to yourself, is the correct syntax... > In other words, there is no right nor wrong way to develop software and to > insinuate that only your way is "the way" is beyond belief <grin> How did I insinuate that? Just because there's more than one way, doesn't mean they're all equal. There's usually one that's better than another, and more often there's a balance of goals. Your method is sloppy and likely to errors in the end-result XML. Using a DOM parser makes it impossible to create non-syntactically-correct XML without a bug in the DOM parser itself-- the con being it can be slower. > I too used to be an arrogant sob making 67.50 per hour as an contractor > working 60 plus hour weeks until the work went overseas and I couldn't find > anymore. > > It has humbled me a bit. > > Lets hope that it doesn't happen to you. It sure would be nice to be making $67.50/hr. I don't make nearly that-- rather, I make a more humble living as a salaried software engineer at a small business near the city of Rochester, NY. Nothing glamorous, but also nothing getting outsourced to India anytime soon. I also have contingency plans(ones that already make money on the side) in case this salaried position goes away for some reason. You've admitted yourself, that you're not a programmer/software engineer-- you're a project manager. Not being a programmer already, it is foolish not to take a class or get a book and read to learn some basics. Asking basic questions that are answered in the first 2 chapters of any intro book on the subject constantly is insulting to other's time, and is the reason why many of your posts have gone unanswered here on Profox recently. There should be many ASP books available for a song on Ebay or Amazon's used stores, etc. -- Derek _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
