First, you mention "global terror" as if it were something like the
Black Plague that just sorta arose out of nothing. There are many,
many complex reasons for this, and the United States is not an
uninvolved bystander.

I have a lot of respect for the things you say Ed, but I believe liberal
democracy, free speech, freedom of religion, sexual equality, racial
tolerance, rule of law, free market economics, open and transparent
governance, debate, difference, and individual liberty are universal values
that all people should enjoy. The terrorists don't believe in any of this.
What imperialism? Global capitalism? The breeding grounds for this plague
are backward repressive authoritarian states not US foreign policy. And you
haven't easily rewritten my words you have completely distorted them.
Graham.

Second, I can easily re-write your words

"But imperialism is an evil that has to be confronted and the radical
Americans are the major agents of that imperialism. Defeating them
will require terrible things to be done in our name. Where does
civilization stand in all of this? Same place it's always been.
Soaked in blood."

You illustrate my point that as long as we view this as "we are pure
and innocent; they are evil and soulless", things will continue to
deteriorate.
