If you are making a direct connection from your PC's sound card to the sound system I would recommend the MPD (music player daemon) <http://www.musicpd.org/> running on your choice of linux or *bsd. Throw on a web based client (I like pitchfork <http://pitchfork.remiss.org/>) and you'll be in business. If you do want to send the music over ethernet or wifi, I'll second the recommendation for Twonky. Refurb/closeout UPnP clients can be had fairly cheaply, I have some Linksys WMLS11B recievers and a Rockford-Fosgate Omnifi DMS-1 which work reasonably well and have active mailing lists over at Yahoo Groups.
