But you've got a built-in advantage when working with mom and pops. If 
the software doesn't work, mom can (and WILL) blame pop. Then when mom's 
gone, pop will lean over and whisper to you that SHE was the one with 
the fumble fingers.

Kind of a variation on 'good cop - bad cop'.
