MS's acquisition of VFP was like a marriage with kids involved. Sure,
the marriage can break up and dissolve, but the kids have to be taken
care of by the parents, like it or not.

But this isn't just a matter of caring for offspring, it also involves
deceit in how the whole matter was conducted.

We've become accustomed to being pushed around by MS, but now that the
company has taken the gloves off with their announcement, the time is
coming to put the facts on the table and sort it out. In this context, a
discovery process should be able to find plenty of evidence regarding
deceitful business practices regarding FoxPro.

The way I see it is simple: MS purchased FoxPro, promoted it (even less
then whole-heartedly), convinced people to invest in it, they did, and
then, years later after people have huge investments in the product, MS
tells them to f**k off.

Sure, the argument "that's business" can be made, but there's more to it
in the case of FoxPro: it goes back full circle to the deceit by which
the entire affair was conducted. We've heard antidotal evidence of a
meeting in which it was announced that if anyone mentioned FoxPro they
would be fired. Maybe that's just hearsay, who knows, but I think
there's enough 'stuff' that a discovery process would uncover regarding
MS's nefarious designs for FoxPro from the beginning to put legs on a
lawsuit.

I have no confidence in MS to do the right thing because they want to -
but I do still have confidence is what's left of our legal system to
give us the strength to deal with this problem.

The problem being that without provision for ongoing maintenance, our
air supply is cut off.

Example: I'm not putting SP2 on because I've seen reports of failures
with it. It's a small matter today, but it is enough of an example of
the rubber meeting the road. Will there be an SP3? There's no question
that we need it, yet MS appears to be saying no. We can't accept that.
