Michael - to extend this concept a bit ? Mobile phones used as 'internet devices' require a certain type of cell phone network infratructure, with the right type of cell phones (no, i don't mean the 'email interface' either). North American providers lagged behind the times for putting that infrastructure in place, the last time I looked, it was a 5 year lag. It is always an expensive 'hoot' to give for them, each time a new standard is rolled out. It's not so bad in USA NOW, but still the infrastructure is behind. Then there's that model of 'selling a 2 year contract' for cell phone usage - usually locking the consumer in to a hand phone that will be totally outdated within the first 6 months - planned obsolescence (sp?). It's quite easy in Europe and Asia to change out your cell phone anytime you want, with all of your 'stuff' stored on a SIM card, transparent across phones, transparent across different providers. Combine that with travelling patterns and habits - where public transportation usage in Europe and Asia just ain't what it is in the USA. A worker can get a lot done on that 1 hour train ride into work on his cell in Europe, but in most of the USA, there are stiff fines and penalties for 'texting' whilst driving a car (the main mode o transport). I see a business use and business processes for Twitter. I also think the younger generation o folk will use it here in the USA for their 'friends stuff' instead of us 'old [EMAIL PROTECTED]'. Oh well, just another set o 2 cents.
