There are certainly some areas where I make real efforts to buy locally,
mostly entertainment items like video games, DVD's, music and so on. The
situation I face is that with two SuperCenters within 15 miles of my home,
Walmart has essentially taken over my local retail environment. This is
where online comes in for me. My support of entertainment purchases is
really more of a anti-Walmart move than an anti-online move. I completely
reject the concept that I should in some way feel guilty about buying online
vs locally, I don't believe that is where the threat to the small retailer
truly lies. If anything, the advent of online shopping has made my local
retailers more diversified and a whole lot more competitive in terms of
price and customer service than they ever were before, and as a consumer, I
like that and support it through my purchasing.

I do support local store where possible. Having said that there are not many
here. I have a 20 minute drive.
I do buy dvd's of the internet and some computer parts. Computer shops are
not frequent here either. There is one shop in town and I do buy computer
parts there but its limited. I think with the internet it will get harder to
buy local. Many shops in the uk have closed down. The number of charity
shops is increasing. No future because people want the cheapest and never
mind the concequencies.
The french are good though. they do buy french cars. Not a good idea really
but they still do.
