While I'm researching this, I just discovered that along with the Group Policy 
..... message, if I bring
forward the advanced tab on the Windows Firewall pop-up, there's a 
contradictory message in which my 1394,
Local Area and Wireless connections are all listed as protected. Everything 
else that I think of as important
can be configured is available in the Settings popup which is to the right of 
this list.
