The pollsters already say I only prefer Clinton because she is a woman. I am
51 years old, and am obviously a member of the only remaining group of
voters with a strong preference for Clinton.

Bias against black and female candidates is well documented. Obama is
generating a lot of excitement from the fact that he is so appealing that
even people with a bias overlook his color. Hillary got as far as she did
because people are overlooking her gender and admitting she is a stronger
fighter than many men.

I admit that I grew up with a bias. My mother still refers to my niece with
derogatory terms because her father is black. Many of us have a whole menu
of bias issues. First we overlook our bias, and finally, over time and
experience, our bias disappears. That is the natural state of things.

I LIKE Obama. I just wish he had waited until he had more experience. If he
is the nominee I will still support him over McCain. McCain is too
conservative for me.

I'm also beginning to get a stronger impression that Obama and Clinton are
going to wind up on the same ticket. I would prefer it be Clinton/Obama, but
I can see that it could in fact duplicate an earlier era of Kennedy/Johnson,
with the more experienced candidate in the VP slot. But of course that is
for the party folks to broker. It is pretty likely that after Texas/Ohio
we'll see a brokered agreement no matter who wins those primaries.
