The Palm Desktop 4.x version requires access to files in the path saved in
the registry key:
HKCU\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop\Core

If the user does not have read-write access to this folder it would cause
this. The default is "C:\Program Files\palmOne"

When Palm Desktop 4.x is run on Windows Vista it requires Administrative
access or installation outside the "C:\Program Files" path. Windows Vista
actually has a new Palm Desktop 6.x version. I've not done much testing with
it yet.

Hope that helps narrow your problem down.

Tracy

I've tried that repeatedly. The installation completes but the real user
cannot synch to the PDA.
