I have to parse the vin number so I can pull make, model, body style and year. I think I can do this fairly quickly. I'm writing a power search utility using Google's mapping for the front end, then I'll let the investigators pick a radius for the search. Here's an example of how this will work - last fall we had some sex pervert trying to abduct kids from an elementary school. The officers got a vehicle description for make, model and year. If we had had this tool we would have been able to plug those parameters in and pull all matches within a selected radius, then check for matches in the sex offender database. The first priority though, is to get the garbage out of the mvr table.
