How about the "not free" version. Even for a personal use machine or non-profit 
(which is what the
free license is for) I think it is worth the inexpensive license fee for the 
two years to have the
full version. I use the 7.5 network edition for my production machines (have 
not had time to update
to the latest version).  I installed v8.0 on one of my test machines and had a 
problem getting to
the update site, but I resolved this through their tech support. I have not 
noticed any
intrusiveness in the product, but the new interface takes some getting used to 
when finding some of
the settings. Otherwise it just does its job.
