OK, it's time for the Idiot Test. 1. Which system is less taxing of its constituents and promotes liberty more, the one that: a.) Only taxes the importation of foreign products at a flat ad valorum rate; or b.) Taxes the manufacture every domestic product, and all income of domestic individuals and corporations, transfers of wealth on death of its citizens, and realization of capital gains by domestic investors; 2. Which system is less oppressive and costly to maintain, while securing the object of liberty and limited government, the one that: a.) is funded entirely on the robustness of foreign trade based on a flat ad valorem tax on articles of foreign manufacture; or b.) Taxes every individual and corporation at arbitrary rates whether or not we have good trade relations with other nations, and riddles the tax code with endless attempts at social engineering and control of its citizens' behavior, requiring that citizens pay professionals to interpret the code for them and apply it to their situation--a process that takes a lot of time and potentially trial at the hands of the government if said facts are not completely disclosed to the government. If you answer "b" to either question, you have no clue what the original American System was all about. - Bob > Regards, > > LelandJ _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
