Subject: [NF] Setting up FTP site

I am in need to set up an FTP server for a client.  We need it to be
secure.  It is so that one client can send collection data to him.  It will
be only used by one client.

1.  Should I host it on a local computer or should I host it on a site such
as godaddy?

How do you plan on getting the data once they upload it to the FTP
Server? Having your own in house ftp server is usually cheaper. How long do
you need to use the FTP Server for? Less than 30 Days? I could let you use
my FTP server which I have in house for a nominal fee. Say a couple of
sprites and we'll call it even? <g> I Even have FTP SSL set up and working.

2.  If I host it locally, what ftp server software would you recommend.  We
are using windows XP on all machines, even the server.

3.  What are the pitfalls of setting up FTP?

Setting up the FTP Server for the first time might get confusing,
but it is usually straight forward.

4.  Does this make me any more vulnerable to hacker attack?

Not that much more prone to attack. Port 21 for regular FTP, other
ports if using SSL.
