This is why I resist purchasing anything that is "protected" with DRM. 
In this case, the people that had purchased songs from Yahoo will
effectively have to purchase them again in order to have full access to
them.

I'd rather purchase the CD or vinyl, and record it in to my digital system
myself, than to trust that whatever company I'm downloading songs from
doesn't take away my ability to do what I want with my files. Even if I
don't own the music, I *do* own the files.
