>Does anyone here go "all out" and hook up great speakers to a PC?

I wouldn't say I go "all out", but on my home desktop machine (which is
several years old) I have a SoundBlaster Pro card that feeds a very old but
very good Dynaco tube integrated amp (40 watts per channel) and that is
connected to a pair of custom-built speakers that my audiophile
brother-in-law made for me. I've also got a fairly generic Technics
turntable hooked into the amp, and an AIWA dubbing cassette recorder. I run
audio out from the amp back into the sound card, so I can rip audio from
vinyl, cassette, or CD and convert it to .wav, .mp3, or CD audio and burn
CDs. Mostly I use the speakers for gaming, though. I listen to Pandora and
my Hawaiian radio stations but usually through cheap headphones plugged
into the Dynaco.
