I'm new into Ubuntu as well... love it so far, but it does have a learning
curve. My suggestion would be to log into Synaptic and search for 'flash'.
Select everything that it reports as being loaded and uninstall it. Close
synaptic, and open FF. Go to any website that requires Flash, and when
prompted, download and install the flash plugin. This way you end up with
the version of flash that FF wants you to have. Hope it helps!

Subject: [NF] Ubuntu installation Flash player problem

I am getting my feet wet in Ubuntu and seem to have a situation where
Firefox and Flashplayer are somhow out of sync. I should probably do a
complete reinstall of the OS as one does when running Windows but what would
I learn from that?

I had the system uninstall Firefox and then reinstall it. I installed the
Flashplayer 10 beta without seeing any reported errors but when I do the
about:plugins in Firefox there is no mention of FlashPlayer. I'm wishing
for a checklist of the full paths of the files that need to be in place for
flashplayer to work. Perhaps there are other conditions that can keep it
from working. I found some references to a .dat file that needs to be
removed but have never located that file on my installation.

Any advice welcome.

TIA- Joe
