Excellent response!
One question though, what part of John 8 argues _against_ exposing the
hypocrisy and sexual immorality of powerful leaders, who pretend to be
righteous? That rather seems like what Jesus, in part, was doing in that
passage.
Also--Jesus' compassion on the woman was not a denial of her sin, nor a
declaration that it was now suddenly OK to be an adulteress (or adulterer),
but an act of unconditional love + conditional forgiveness ("now go and sin
no more"), and a rather pointed "preview" demonstration of His life's
purpose--to redeem the lost and show them *how* to walk in the Spirit and be
free from sin. (Hint: The Law of Moses didn't, and couldn't, cut it where
this particular problem is concerned.)
