My point was actualy not to do with time scale but the changes from one to
another Linux type. I mentioned 3 but it does seem to happen often enough to
confuse as to which is the best one. Its no wonder it does not make inroads
into the desktop.

Hi Ed!

I think that theoretically, if you repartition and reformat . . . of course,
that is not an "update".

But the larger question would be if the 1994 machine will run a 2008 OS of
any flavor. The Puppy and Gentoo systems are supposed to be configurable to
whatever you have but I have not tested this very extensively. I basically
just tossed out all my prior to Pentium II machines. I do have Puppy running
satisfactorily on a P II.
