I think she's a great pick, because she really is conservative: pro-gun,
pro-life, fiscally conservative, and religious. She's also really a
woman--strong, feminine, and dedicated to her family. She should blunt a lot
of the Reagan Democrat appeal of the "new and improved" Barack "I've barely
known the guy for 20 years" Obama, which his speech yesterday was calibrated
to increase. (Note, he barely mentioned Martin Luther King at all, and
wrapped himself in the same flag as Dubya, no less!)

She could also help undo many of the myths around motherhood and femininity
that feminism has created. Can you imagine it? She didn't abort her Down
syndrome baby, and it didn't interfere with her "day job" as Governor at
all!

She's also really genuine, someone who I think will help Biden's snarky
arrogance and mean-spiritedness come out in bold relief during the debates.

I think eventually you'll like her. What I know about her so far makes me
wish she was the TOP of our ticket. In any case she's more experienced in
many more meaningful ways than Obama for the top job; indeed she gives Biden
and McCain a run for their money, in terms of executive experience. She
bucked her own party on fiscal conservatism, rejecting $$$ for "The bridge
to nowhere" and selling off the governor's jet on eBay--that's good stuff,
and THAT's what we need more of in DC.

Yes, I agree this year the pickin's are slim. But of the four people who
look to occupy the White House, she's the only one I can say is both
conservative and fresh. Obama is just warmed over race politics dressed in a
"clean, articulate" empty suit with really bizarre life associations. Biden
is just a big ego whose thirty year career consists mainly of bloviating
this way and that on various issues. McCain is a wild card whom I do not
especially trust, though his independence of his party makes him unique
compared to both Obama and Biden.

But Palin appears to be a truly conservative woman--possibly America's
answer to Lady Thatcher some day.
