Being from the south, and having a family where all the men, and a few of the women, hunted, guns were just a part of life. Then the fact that my dad, three uncles, three cousins, and both brothers were cops, guns have always been around. Nobody ever got kilt either. Of course my next younger brother did shoot a guy once, because he was shooting at someone else. Even then, he just wounded the guy. I never shot at anyone, though I was shot at on 7 different occasions.
