There is no perfect political party, either Democrat, Republican, or otherwise, that conforms totally with the ideology of all people. People also change, as do political parties. It looks to me like the Republican party, under the Bush Administration, has become much more liberal with its calls for pre-emptive aggression and reckless spending on wars, rather than social issues, etc, so perhaps its time for everyone to re-evaluate their values and position on the issue, so they can join the party that best matches them. I grew up around guns, I've been a hunter all my life, I believe in the second amendment to the constitution regard the right to own and bear arms, and I'm a member of the National Rifle Association, but that doesn't make me a Republican. I'm a Democrat;because, the Democratic platform best suit my overall political ideology. Besides, the right to own and bear arms has become a non-issue with the resent Supreme Court ruling upholding the second amendment to the constitution.
