Probbaly a hardware issue.

In just about 11 years of SQL Server experience I can say that I have
only had one restore a DB issue. The RAID went south, and all but one
of 8 disks were red. There was a backup on another server on the LAN
so just a PITA to identify a bad RAID, wait on more drives, replace
RAID, Slap in new drives, configure it for performance, restore
SQL2000.

In my FP/VFP years the problems were all on tiny companys where they
didn't have a lan/server, only a workstation or a few workstations.
These tiny shops were where data corruption became a reality. Memo
fields that were shot after a power fluctuation. Bad power or someone
breaking the service nearby because of hitting the pole on the street
nearby.
