BTW, another realization hit me as a result of this debate, and that Greta interview I mentioned previously.
Namely, that Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr, & Obama may very well be part of the same spiritual "clique" making all these disastrous things happen. Hillary was supposed to be the next in line, but Obama showed himself to be, as it were, more ruthless, and thereby more worthy. Bush's conservative, free market bona fides are so easily refuted by his actual policies and "achievements" that I am embarrassed now that I didn't see it so clearly before. He's paved the way for an Obama on several levels, with the aid of those who "opposed" him. I remember getting migraines reading Hegel in college, but his concept of dialectic thesis-synthesis-antithesis seems oddly relevant here. That is, those of us who thought Bush was the anti-Clinton, and those of us who think Obama is the anti-Bush, are really just falling for the same spiritual anti-Christs, so to speak, who rule this world, who are taking us the way of all flesh. Looking at what Bush has done vs what he promised, and the same with Clinton, it's easy now to see how each was the reductio ad absurdum of the one that came before, each on some different and more profound level. Obama, ditto. He will fulfill all the caricature prophecies of those who accused Bush of being Hitler/a dictator wanna-be, and force for evil in the world. McCain stands out like a comical sore thumb, frankly, from that clique, or seems to; and for certain Palin is cut of a different cloth--which is why they are like lamb going forth amidst the wolves to be slaughtered. Or maybe they're just part of the same cosmic gag-reel of the god of this world, too. I don't know; these are my impressions. Anyway, I don't want to be carried too far away in metaphysical musings of this sort--but it's hard for me to digest what I saw the other day--a completely different Bill Clinton, at ease with the man he daily accused (and on the stump continues to accuse) of being evil, and Bush, treating him like a son, making physical, almost fatherly-affectionate, and reciprocated contact with him frequently, both looking forward to Dubya joining their clan of apolitical philanthropists--it was bizarre. And then watching these debates--knowing I could have creamed either of these guys, one-on-one, but I'll never have a seat at the debate, to call them out on their lies. And now to see all the folks who said I was duped by Bush so plainly duped by Obama... it's a sad testimony to how much unrighteous faith we put in men, and the powers that be. - Bob > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On > Behalf Of Bob Calco > Sent: Thursday, October 16, 2008 11:42 AM > To: 'ProFox Email List' > Subject: RE: [OT] - The way it was viewed > > We (sadly) expect politicians to lie to us, and are naturally more > tolerant > of the lies of "our side" (insofar as we take sides) than the lies of > the > other side.
