I don't think he did.  I understood that he said he was buying the business.
 
And by the way, the Secret Service says now there were never any death threats 
to Obama in any crowd that they were in, so Obama has been lying the whole time
 
Joe Goebbels would have been proud.

The question was an honest one. Joe the Plumber, however, did misrepresent
his personal history when asking it. He could have asked a hypothetical or
indicated he was hoping to buy a business, you know. There was no reason to
misrepresent himself just to ask a question.
