Thanks for the heads-up on this... did you know most of these sort of things come into the PC via video from the internet? It seems like video is the new portal... For what it's worth, I can get a wounded PC back up and running in about 15 minutes using this procedure:
Disconnect from internet, then boot into safe mode. Run autoruns ( google it, it's free and kicks butt), remove start up entries for 'Winantivirus', 'windefender' and so on. Open the system32 folder, sort by Date. You'll see the malware entries... I usually change their extensions to .xxx Open msconfig, uncheck startup items relating to the malware Look at your IE Add-ons, disable any malware entries. Run CleanUp! ( also free, google it). This is important because it removes the installer files that are hiding in the temp files on the PC Reboot, then scan with Spybot or similar product, run A/V scan as soon as you can. I needed to run a combination of spybot search and destroy and adaware to fully get rid of it. http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/107193 [excessive quoting removed by server] _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
