Autoruns also reveals the sloppy uninstallations of many popular programs (
I'm looking at you, Symantec ) and let's you kill them off. With autoruns, I
tend follow these general concepts:

Be suspicious of blank entries in the Manufacturer column. Most legit
software doesn't try to hide who made it.
Tread lightly in the hardware area... I've yet to encounter malicious
software in there and it's easy to mess things up.
If it says 'microsoft corporation' it's likely safe. Doesn't mean it's not
crap ( windows defender), but it at least isn't overtly harming anything. 
And google whatever you're not sure about...
