I hope MS does more than just repackage Vista. A little time exploring and
addressing the real problems of Vista ( Windows Explorer hangs frequently,
windows Mail is chock full of unaddressed problems, the really poorly
executed 'network and sharing center'... god, that blows... the ineffective
Windows Defender, the high system hardware requirements, the downright
oppressive lack of opportunity to easily lower security settings in IE w/o
being nagged to death, the omnipresent windows media player that is next to
impossible to NOT have running every moment Vista is on, and so on) would be
time well spent. I just have this scary feeling that W7 is going to be more
about bundling of MS products and marketing and control of the user instead
of the user controlling the OS. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Thanks,
Dave

Subject: [NF] M$ to push out Vista replacement in mid 2009

To get it loaded on machines for new students and for holiday sales, expect
to see Windows 7 out next summer.
