They store it until a R wins. Then, it gets lost.

Hi Ed!

We used to have the kind you are talking about, but we gave them away, 
losing millions, when the local D congress candidate lost to an R and 
sued over there not being a hard copy. Now we fill out a paper ballot 
which is scanned and stored, don't know how long they store it.
