David Hicks was rightfully detained. From what we know he was in a terrorist training camp. The argument has always been one of due process - or the lack thereof. The 'trial process' was an utter disgrace and reminiscent of USSR show trials. I honestly don't know what the problem is with conducting trials of alleged terrorists under US Criminal law or even the harsher military law. But for some perverse reason, the USA wants some tribunal system which by any measure is unjust and unfair. The first version of these didn't even allow for legal representation. America has come off looking just like a bad-tempered bully with suspect morals. I expect better and grew up SEEING better. On 9/11 much of the world gave the USA their unconditional support. Now we just hoep you can recapture the essence of democracy and fair play and justice that the ensuring 7 years took away.
