Hey ! Who said anything about mounting that file system to be read/write? Ya DON'T scramble it when ya take the default - which is 'READ ONLY'. Tis dead easy - just click the thing and go. Boom - the hard drive is mounted READ ONLY. Another click and a textbox input - BAM - samba is loaded. on a 'nother machine, I can map a drive 'cross the network to the 'mounted' samba share, start a file copy. All in 10 minutes or less. I never worry about 'writing' on a winders drive, once I've booted the machine with Knoppix. Nicholas - not fair - I think this is a scare tactic you've used.
