I'm 100% sure that I had my Windows Update setting set to just notify me but don't download until I explicitly say so. I come to my laptop this morning and find that it's been rebooted and then a friendly "Your computer was updated!" message appears. I go to check the setting and it was (re-?)set to Automatic updates where Windows downloads and applies them at will.
I know I'm 100% sure because recently Windows wanted to download yet another "Windows Genuine Advantage" update and I was saying "no freakin way...you've already put that on and and updates in that are not welcome."
