There's a service to turn off too, something like "Windows Update Service".

I forgot to mention the single most important thing: Don't let users (even you) 
run 
as Administrator. You are probably saying "well duh" but I still see lots of 
systems 
set up where the user has full admin rights, or the user is running as admin.

So, users can't install stuff to the system directories (but they still can 
install 
stuff to their profile directory). This is as it should be!
