Apart from a seemingly insatiable desire to knock xbase and VFP in every post I don't see the relevance to your reply. The question (in case you missed it) was about the relevance of XML in a particular scenario.

Your server is asked for what the client needs, instead of pushing the entire index file and usually the entire dbf to the client for every little request.
