Quilting bees, corn huskings, church socials, Sunday Visitations, Ice Cream Making, Barn Raisings, pea shellings, and in your case -- town meetings. You and Mike would have gotten to address your points before the whole town, to the cheers and jeers of all. Great fun! Of course, back then, it probably wasn't much more exciting then chat rooms, but still..... We read our local paper just to see what happened at the last town meeting. The last one we attended came *this* close to a knock-down drag out. The antagonizer actually got shoved into me, but unfortunately, the critical level of alcohol had not been reached, and it degenerated into dark mutterings and vague threats.
