Geez, you must have eaten too much chocolate this morning and it's
affected your ability to read.

All I wrote was that saying something worked well does not make you a
fanboy. Failing to recognize that there are other options that also
work well is what fanboys do.

If you were to talk about several different products from several
different companies that ran on various platforms, then no, you would
not be a fanboy, and your endorsement of VS2008 would carry much more
weight than if you simply followed one company's products and ran them
on one platform.

BTW, you *do* realize that I am not an ABM? I'm EIM (everyone
including Microsoft). I spend a good deal of time making sure that
Dabo runs just as well on Windows as on Linux and Mac. I honestly fail
to see how you can possibly call that 'ABM'.

VS2008 does not run on Linux, with or without Mono. The binaries that
it produces may run, depending on the version of .net that is
required. Mono is typically a year or two behind.

Funny, I think the same thing about being able to edit several text
files at once! ;-)

And I see the lock-in as an unnecessary condition based not on any
technical reason, but on maximizing license fees.

Almost as great as having the freedom to use a tool in whatever
manner you see fit instead of being bound by licensing terms!
