On the other hand, a "real upgrade" path from Windows to Ubuntu Linux is available <g>. Hey, as long a mom-and-pop user is only going to be checking and sending eMail, and browsing the Internet, what the heck? If they are going have to change they may as well go Mac for some serious bucks, or go Linux for cheap (poor man's Mac) using the same old machine once used for Windows.
