Servoy sent this (see snippet below) in an email to me yesterday, asking me to join this webinar. I'm not going to, but thought it interesting to get a discussion here:
----snippet---- Why would you move to SaaS-based only? Why not a hybrid model? Hybrid software development platforms combine the best of two approaches - on-premises and in the cloud - to meet a wide range of customer needs. Combined with mobile enterprise deployment, ISVs can use a hybrid approach to offer customers choices that meet their budgeting, resource, and timing needs and maximize revenue. ----snippet---- The big thing about browser based apps is that the deployment was certainly easier--no install hassles, no runtimes need, no crap with Windows configurations (like DLL hell), but for me, I've got a simple install script (via ISTool/Inno Setup) and I like the way the app performs locally using a MySQL database on the web. Does "cloud computing" enhance this offering for me or is this only for browser-based apps? I must admit I need to read up on CC. -- Mike Babcock, MCP MB Software Solutions, LLC President, Chief Software Architect http://mbsoftwaresolutions.com http://fabmate.com http://twitter.com/mbabcock16 --- StripMime Report -- processed MIME parts --- multipart/mixed text/plain (text body -- kept) message/rfc822 --- _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
