Like any "tool", PP can be misused and an audience abused with it. I have
certainly been through a few too many abusive non-presentations, but I have
also seen PP used by some folks as an aid to their presentation as well.
Learning from these master presenters I did put together one PP presentation
to teach clients about the Federal Do Not Call program compliance
requirements, and used the PP slideshow printout feature to provide them a
hard copy they could hold onto and make notes on. Rather than use the PP
app to create slides I could read to the audience, I used it to provide
meaningful examples of the kind of situations they had to be aware of,
excerpts of the legislation, to show what kinds of forms had to be created
and kept on file, sample situations, etc. IOW, it was used as a way to
provide support for my presentation as opposed to being the presentation.
In my case it was a valuable tool.

That said, I think even our dear friend Dave Smith (who has had to endure
sitting through more than just a few of my "sales demo" presentations to his
organization) would likely agree that my business associate and I use far
more live application screen displays with a projector showing what is
happening with our various solutions than a mere PP "read along with me as I
read to you aloud" non-presentation. He apparently never felt compelled to
gag me when we have met with him (although he may have been tempted to do
so). <g>...
