I would suspect that most pirated copies of Office are on machines that people bought at their neighborhood store, some off-name brand no one had ever heard of, and cheaper than the equivalent at the local Big Box store. I think most folks know you're not supposed to pass software around (and have never heard of open source, grr), but would assume that computers come with Windows and Word and Excel. Some local shops are ripping people off, and some big time distributors are moving genuine-looking boxes, holograms and certificates and everything. Someone who pirated their copy of Word ought to be smart enough not to sign up. Everyone who bought a "student & teacher" version is probably afraid to. It's a pretty silly game. I'm pretty sure my copy of OpenOffice.org is genuine. Don't even need to get it checked. -- Ted Roche Ted Roche & Associates, LLC http://www.tedroche.com _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
