I think that it sets the version(s) of M$ software you have on your
machine so when you get the notice for an update you get what was
designed for what is on your machine and not for a newer version of
Office that you have yet installed.

Why do you think the wrong and then start misinformation about it.  If
this was our local troll I would have not wasted my time with this.
