I'm not saying a firewall doesn't protect the user. My question is how often does it save a user compared to how many times it screws up a user?
I have made multiple calls to one client because he couldn't get into his system remotely. Each time it was Kaspersky messing with it even though we think we changed ever setting necessary to get it to work. It will work for a while and the something "shuts off" again. --- On Wed, 10/21/09, Paul McNett <[email protected]> wrote: > From: Paul McNett <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: [NF] McAfee and FTP > To: [email protected] > Date: Wednesday, October 21, 2009, 12:12 AM > Michael Madigan wrote: > > Someone should do a study on whether anything more > than the windows firewall is actually necessary behind a > cable router. > > Because Windows makes it very hard to actually produce a > usable system where you > aren't running with Administrator privileges, the Windows > firewall is susceptible to > attack by web/email trojans (the firewall won't block port > 80 or 110, right?).
