I concur with all the tools Michael has mentioned, but my preferred toll in these case is Malware Bytes. This is available in a free and a paid for version. The free version has worked in all cases so far. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
This and a lot of other tools including the ones Michael mentioned are available on Hiren's Boot CD. This compilation allows you to boot up from the CD and repair Windows, Virus's Partition Problems and many more. http://www.hirensbootcd.net/ In the past few weeks I have successfully used it on a number of desktops and laptops which would not load Windows X or Windows Vista. Firstly I run The AV programs then finally I run a CHKDSK. If any one wants to download Hiren from my desktop the let me know and I will send a link to the iso. Dave can you give me a ring on 0 1 6 7 3 8 4 2 9 7 9. Any one else who wants to cheer up an old Fart would be more than welcome. I emailed as you suggested but my message was returned undeliverable. I am confined to the upstairs at the moment and can only move when someone is here to help me. Here's what I would do. 1. run ccleaner at http://www.ccleaner.com/ 2. Run spybot search and destroy http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Search-amp-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html 3. run smitrem http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/ Then run defrag. That should speed things up. --- On Wed, 12/9/09, Joel N. Fischoff <[email protected]> wrote: > From: Joel N.
