Why be so pessimistic? Humans have made many changes to the good. Just
follow the adventures of a handful of people who have saved our National
Park System such as Yellowstone and Yosemite. The Ken Burns documentary was
very inspiring. You will be amazed what can happen when people's personal
comfort and safety are at stake how fast they can respond. If people don't
fix things themselves, nature will do it for them.

These arguments are like a many-headed hydra. The fact is, man cannot
control man, much less the weather. This whole charade is nothing more
than a thinly veiled effort at the former, under the audacious
pretense of the latter.

If indeed this is the culmination of human existence, that we conclude
the air we exhale is a dangerous poison to the earth, and we must
therefore inflict upon ourselves the fiercest economic punishment as a
form of both distributive justice and corrective political remedy,
mankind is pathetic indeed.

All this in the name of humanism, no less.

At moments like these it is helpful to remember this little blue ball
whirls around the sun at the right distance to sustain life, only by
the grace of God.

"I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold,
all is vanity and vexation of spirit." (Ecclesiastes 1:14)

In this case I like the Catholic translation as well: "... it is like
chasing the wind."

Or in this case, like chasing methane, ozone and carbon dioxide.

Sigh.
